The first step is to lubricate the copper billet. This is one of the crucial stages, and skipping will significantly affect the quality of the copper product forged. Insert Metal In the Die
Make sure that you have the dies firm on the pressing machine. There are two dies that are used on the cold forging. The stationary die is placed on the working surface of the press machine. The second die is on the punch and is used for punching purposes. Place the copper material on the die, and be ready for punching.
The third step in the process of cold forging copper is punching. This is where the actual forging of the machine takes place. Make sure that you have the copper billet properly placed on the billet. Then have the hydraulic press set to produce the right tonnage needed for the pressing of the copper. Then, punch it once as recommended.
With the copper striking done, you need to remove the flash or the excess material that is squeezed out after punching. The flash material can be very hot and sometimes very sharp. So, you need to remove it carefully.
Removing Forged part
The fifth step is the removal of the forged part from the die. This is pretty simple, considering that the material was properly lubricated. Because of the high heat produced when pressing, you need to consider using special handling tools to remove it.
For the cold forging, there may not be a need for finishing the forged products. But in case that you need to make finish, you can go ahead with it. Either way, it may not be such a big issue.
